Let’s help eradicate polio in Nigeria
Nigeria, Afghanistan and Pakistan have been classified as countries which remain endemic for indigenous transmission of wild polio virus. Despite the intervention of the World health Organisation (WHO), polio virus remains ever present in Nigeria especially the northern part.
Who are mostly affected?
Those mostly affected by polio are children under the age of five (5) and this can lead to paralysis and death.
Prevention
There is no known cure for polio but it can be prevented. Polio vaccine can protect a child for life especially when given multiple times.
Benefits of polio eradication
It has been found that polio eradication would save at least 40-50 billion US dollar over the next twenty years and especially in low-income countries. It will also save children the terrible threat to life and long-life paralysis. And for sure, the world would be free once again of this terrible and dreaded virus.
If we fail to implement strategic approaches to stop polio in the affected countries, this could lead to a global outbreak which WHO has tried so much to fight over the years.
It should also be of notice that 99% progress has been recorded leaving Nigeria, Afghanistan and Pakistan behind the world.

Thank you for educating nigerians on the effect of polio. Its a shame that our leaders are doing nothing to improve the health sector in Nigeria. As we already know that children are the most susceptible to this virrus, we must do everything to safeguard the future of our little ones and the world as a whole.
If we could achieve a 100% polio free society, it would do us a lot of good. Polio is a virus that must be quickly eradicated in our county in order to join the league of healthy countries.
Thank you Bay Man for agreeing with me on the eradication of polio in our country. With the likes of you, we can achieve a 100% polio free society.
